Weddings are tricky beasts when many different cultures are involved. We try to be as transparent as possible about which traditions we honour, and which ones we do not. We also try to explain what the traditions are about, so you have a chance to understand why the bride is being abducted or the groom has his socks cut off. This is mandatory reading. There will be a test.

We are grateful that you are coming to share our wedding with us and know that it is a cost for many of you. We do not ask for presents beyond your attendance.
If you really wish to give us a present, we would appreciate money. We will use this money to sponsor attendance of some of our guest who may otherwise struggle to come. Or on our honeymoon.

We like going big on outfits. The wedding venue is spectacular and can carry a full-blown galla outfit with a tiara. But only if that is your jam. If you are more of a jeans-and-beanie kinda person, we'll love you all the same.
If you have anything fushsia or cyan, we'd love you to wear that. But again, if you show up in a faded t-shirt and bermuda shorts, we won't flinch.
